Day Glo (Based on a True Story) (2022)(The Alternative Neon)

Erasure - Day-Glo (Based On A True Story)

Erasure presents their new album Day-Glo (Based On A True Story) on vinyl and CD. An unexpected album, featuring 10 brand new songs, each track created using elements from The Neon universe. Familiar but unexpected, the songs bear little resemblance to the original album, although echoes of The Neon can be heard from time to time. The album is an alternative look at Vince and Andy's world, and marks the closure of this chapter of The Neon.
The CD edition is presented in eco packaging and includes a 16 page poster booklet.
"Erasure - Day-Glo (Based On A True Story)" is out 12th August 2022 on Mute and available for pre-order now.

Previously tweeted-

The latest tweet about the alternative Neon album/EP with snippets of Andy’s vocals as mentioned in web chat.

[ben]

I wonder if this will ever be released, I am looking forward to it.

Ooh I wonder what this is
Sounds like an EP doesn't it. Such an Erasure thing to do

[skery]

No slight to the album, it is sounding great, but I have to admit... I'm more excited about this than the album...

[mrblue]

Hmm, interesting! I like the idea of an alternate version of the album, if (big if) it's a bit lusher in the synth department. Perhaps something like a "stripped down" version? That's my interpretation of those cryptic tweets at least.

Thanks pughie , it really sounds promising from the snippet!

This may well be something to do with this release.
This my be like The Neon (Simlish-Esque Version)

So, what else have you been up to?

Clarke: I’ve been doing some stuff, and promotion and things for the new record. I just did a couple of history courses online, ‘cause I need something to do, and I love history. And I’m doing this sort of remake of (“Neon”), which is interesting. I started slicing things up and putting them together, taking samples from Andy’s vocals and saying, “OK, maybe I can write a tune around those,” just manipulating and stretching. It’s just kind of an experiment. I’ve done 10 tracks thus far, so I’ve got an alternative “Neon” album.” It’s kinda cool, quite hippie.
