Nerves Of Steel (Single 2)

Post by Pughie »

ERASURE: THE SECOND SINGLE FROM 'THE NEON' WILL BE 'NERVES OF STEEL' AND BBC RADIO 2 WILL BE PREMIERING IT ON TUESDAY!
Yes indeed! It is brilliant to finally be able to confirm that the second single from 'The Neon' will be 'Nerves of Steel', and even more brilliant to be able to top that with the news that BBC Radio 2 will have the exclusive first play of the single next Tuesday (August 11th) as part of the Zoe Ball Breakfast show, which has the single biggest radio audience in Europe. After their support of 'Hey Now (Think I Got A Feeling)' - which was also premiered on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show prior to going onto their playlist, and becoming the most played song on the station for two weeks running - we are particularly delighted that BBC Radio 2 also want to launch this one in such fine style. So put the date in your diary now: Tuesday (August 11th) between 6.30am and 9.30am (UK) on BBC Radio 2 where Dermot O'Leary will be sitting in for Zoe. Can't be by the radio on Tuesday morning? We've thought of that too, check out the next newsletter story below...

ERASURE: 'NERVES OF STEEL' VIDEO & RELEASE DETAILS...
'Nerves of Steel' - which, incidentally, Andy thinks is his personal favourite track from 'The Neon' - will also be available as a single-track stream or download from all good online music services from 3pm (UK) on Tuesday (August 11th) at which point we will also be unveiling the rather exciting video which we've made to support the release. I can't tell you any more than that right now as the exact details are top secret and extremely hush-hush and I am sworn to secrecy, however I can tell you that the video will be revealed in all its technicolour glory on the Erasure YouTube page at 3pm (UK) on Tuesday! There will also be a 'Nerves of Steel' remix bundle a little further down the line. How's that for a whole load of exciting new single news all in one go? :-)

It is shocking that in the middle of the promotion of the new album the EIS newsletter runs into problems. The EIS is just a shadow of its former self.

Today’s Newsletter-

One of my favourite parts of counting down to an album release is the way that more and more parts of the project gradually come into view, and with just TWO WEEKS TO GO before the release of 'The Neon' this is a newsletter that is full of new parts of the project, including news of Erasure's brand new single, a very exciting radio premiere, a new video, a chance to ask Vince and Andy your burning Erasure questions, Andy Bell's 'Something For The Weekend' pick and lots more. But before we jump into all of those things let me share a couple of extracts from recent early reviews of 'The Neon'...

"They've retrenched and returned to what made pop's equivalent of a glitterball such an appealing proposition in the first place: catchy uncluttered songs, impeccably delivered." MOJO
****

"The confident swagger on display here — alongside the very best elements of that illustrious past — is a refreshing breath of fresh air and reminds us of both the power and the joy that good pop music can bring. The Neon is full of sophisticated and confident melody structures and is executed so brilliantly that it seems Erasure aren’t ready to slow down anytime soon."
Slug Mag

"The Neon is the kind of Bell and Clarke record that could have come out any time since their 1985 debut, Wonderland. Which is to say it’s a brilliant combination of Clarke’s genius with pop electronics and Bell’s brilliance with lyrics, and a vocal talent that’s soulful and fabulous all at the same time."
Record Collector
****

Exciting right? And talking of Erasure press you can also catch-up with Andy Bell's current viewing, reading and eating habits courtesy of The Guardian here, and get a glimpse into the world of 'The Neon' in the Big Takeover's interview with Andy here.

Oh, and before I get on with the rest of news, if you happen to find yourself at a loose end on Wednesday night, it's AIM's (Association of Independent Music) awards night and while they're not having their usual ceremony this year, they are hosting a virtual awards event instead, and I dunno, it just might be interesting...

Stay Safe. Here's everything I have for you today...

ERASURE: EXCLUSIVE PRE-ORDER ONLY EDITIONS OF 'THE NEON' ARE AVAILABLE NOW + WIN AN AUTOGRAPHED ERASURE ART PRINT
I hope that you are all sorted with your pre-orders for any of the limited-edition pre-order exclusive formats - that's the Limited-Edition Deluxe CD, the Limited-Edition Neon Orange Vinyl Album and the Limited-Edition Green Cassette - of Erasure's forthcoming album 'The Neon' are all available to pre-order right now from Mute Bank and Lexer Music. Can I also take this opportunity to remind you that there are 150 'The Neon' art prints, autographed by Andy and Vince, which will be allocated to random orders when they're sent out (50 prints from Lexer Music, 50 prints from Mute Bank, and 50 prints from Mute Bank US). I know you already know all of that, but it's definitely worth the extra mention, just in case. If you've already ordered from those places then please don't worry, you're already in the draw. Did I mention that there are just TWO WEEKS TO GO before the release of 'The Neon'?

ERASURE: 'THE NEON' ONLINE ALBUM LAUNCH PARTY - SEND OVER YOUR QUESTIONS FOR ANDY AND VINCE!
In last week's newsletter I mentioned that Vince and Andy will be hosting a special online launch party for 'The Neon' on day of album release, August 21st. The party - which you are all invited to - will take place on Facebook Live from 8pm-9.30pm (UK) on Friday August 21st and for part of the broadcast Andy and Vince will spend some time answering some of your burning Erasure and Erasure-related questions, which is where you come in... if you have a question for Vince and/or Andy then please send it over and we will pick a selection of the most interesting, eccentric and amusing questions for the band to answer on the night. Let's see what you come up with! You can submit your questions for the band via the Erasure website here.

ANDY BELL: ANDY WOULD LOVE YOU TO CHECK OUT TRINITY THE TUCK'S NEW DRAG SHOW 'LOVE OF THE ARTS'
If you've had the privilege of seeing an Andy Bell solo show then there's every chance you may have see drag artist Trinity The Tuck onstage with Andy providing extra glamour and sparkle. More than that, she was also the joint winner of Season 4 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars and is a bona fide drag legend, and this week Andy sent me details of her new show, 'Love of the Arts', which started this week, to share with you today. 'Love of the Arts' is a digital drag competition on Twitch which sees 30 drag performers from all over the world compete against one another. Trinity can explain it all much better than I can so head on over to this interview she gave to Out Magazine for all the details...

VINCE CLARKE: TUNE IN TO LAST WEEK'S EDITION OF VINCE CLARKE & REED HAYS' RADIO BROADCAST 'THE SYNTHESIZER SHOW'
You can catch-up with last week's live broadcast of 'The Synthesizer Show' right now via the Maker Park Radio streaming service, which not only brings you the radio part of the show, but also provides you with the video feed of Vince Clarke and Reed Hays recorded while the show was being broadcast (which this week takes you a little further into Vince's studio than usual). Technological challenges mean that the show does't actually start until five minutes into the video plus, when the show ends two hours later, the video doesn't stop which means there's a extra forty-five minutes of absolutely nothing happening at all. Don't be tempted to watch it in case there's any bonus material because there isn't! The next show will broadcast live on Maker Park Radio at 2pm (NYC) on Thursday August 13th and will be available as a catch-up video shortly after that as usual. Happy listening!

ERASURE: CATCH UP WITH FORMER EIS MANAGER JONNY MORRIS IN THE LATEST 'THE CHEMISTRY OF ERASURE' RADIO SHOW
A few weeks ago I posted this link to an edition of the Swedish radio show 'The Chemistry of Erasure' which included an interview with the first ever EIS manager, Janet Gordon, who talked about her involvement with Erasure back in the day, and today I am very happy to bring you a similar show which catches up with the second EIS manager, Jonny Morris. It's a lovely interview, part of a lovely show which loosely revolves around Erasure's 'The Tiny Tour', and I thoroughly recommend you have a listen...

ANDY BELL: ANDY BELL & SHELTER'S 'iPOP' ALBUM IS NOW BACK IN STOCK
You probably remember that back in 2015 Andy Bell collaborated with Shelter on an album called 'iPop'? Well the deluxe CD edition of that album has been out of stock for, literally, years, but as of this week there is new stock available from Shelter's online shop at Lexer Music. This is a 3-CD set featuring 40 remixes of tracks from the 'iPop' and is available now while stocks last...

SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND: ANDY BELL HAS CHOSEN THIS PERFORMANCE OF 'A LITTLE RESPECT' FOR YOU TODAY...
A big thank you to the boss for this one! Andy found this Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Rock Choir performance of Erasure's 'A Little Respect' online and sent me the link, so naturally I'm passing on his recommendation as this week's 'Something For The Weekend' selection. So here's the video, and have a brilliant weekend! :-)

Erasure. Always.

CHEERS!

Richard
