So the aftermath of last nights performance means that we have some new iTunes action!

In the album charts-
5 Hits!
54 Always the best of

In the singles chart-
10 A Little Respect
56 Sometimes
122 Blue Savannah
194 Stop!

To put it in context McFly the ‘headline end of show show’ artist didn’t seem to fair as well.

Who would pay £10 for Hits! when they could pay £9 for the far-superior Always compilation? :rotfl:

That’s all down to fans knowledge of the releases I would think Hits! Was the first compilation they saw when searching,I would even go as far as saying even Always the best of isn’t as superior as Pop! The first 20 hits.

Really funny reading the live feedback on Twitter on Saturday night. Lots of people thought this weeks Saturday Takeaway was dire. A few said Erasure was the highlight so far.

But, a lot of people commented on Andy and claimed he was out of tune!

It's only superior to you because you're a fan who knows all the songs, but the people buying HITS don't know what we know.

Both compilations are basically the same to a casual listener/non-fan - they both have the main hits on them and that's the reason people are currently buying it. They're only interested in the songs they know already. They're not looking at the HITS album and thinking "But where's 'Be With You' and 'Fingers & Thumbs'?". They've never heard of them anyway so don't care about those other songs.

As @Pughie says, HITS comes up first in a search, and it's got "A Little Respect" and "Stop" and "Sometimes" etc on there, which is basically all they are after. They've found what they want, so they've bought it without having to delve any deeper.

Also, HITS has more ABBA songs on it, which might count for something to the casual listener. In that regard, you could say HITS is superior because it's got more familiar songs on it.

True enough. I just dislike the Hits! compilation so I'm biased. I suppose I rate Always better because at least the remix discs were well done. The megamix on Hits! was just okay for me. (On a side note, was "You Surround Me" the only song originally planned that was removed in favour of the extra ABBA songs?)

They are about equal for the casual fan, so if that were me and it was a band I wasn't that familiar with, I would've saved myself the £1.

The comments on Facebook are a lot more mixed. Some of them are quite critical 😐
