Strange I didn’t get a newsletter this week
Nor me!
EIS Newsletter Friday 24th July 2020
Shall we start with a peep inside 'The Neon'? Here's an extract from Record Collector's review of the album which appears in the magazine's August edition, with thanks to Wayne for sending it over: "The Neon is the kind of Bell and Clarke record that could have come out any time since their 1985 debut, Wonderland. Which is to say it’s a brilliant combination of Clarke’s genius with pop electronics and Bell’s brilliance with lyrics, and a vocal talent that’s soulful and fabulous all at the same time." Exciting right?
After an amazing five week stint on BBC Radio 2's playlist (four of those weeks on the a-list AND the single was also Radio 2's most-played song for two of those weeks!) 'Hey Now (Think I Got A Feeling)' has now come off their playlist, which will hopefully make room for the second single from the album, which I will be able to tell you more about very soon.
In case you're not already counting down the days, 'The Neon' is released on August 21st which is just FOUR WEEKS away. Read on for all the news I have for you right now...
ERASURE: WATCH OUT FOR THE 'SHOT A SATELLITE (INITIAL TALK REMIX)' COMING YOUR WAY NEXT WEEK
While 'Shot A Satellite' isn't a single as such, it is a track from the album which we're particularly fond of, and that's the reason we not only shared the track with you a couple of weeks ago (if for some reason you've still not had a listen then you can find it on YouTube as well as on all good streaming and download channels right now), but it's also the reason why we thought it would be fun to remix it, just to keep things ticking over while we wait for the album. So I am very excited to announce that the brilliant Initial Talk has provided us with an aptly-titled 'Shot A Satellite (Initial Talk Remix)'. We're just finalising a few details behind the scenes, but that remix will be heading your way next week. You might know Initial Talk for his remixes for Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue, Sia and more, so we're kinda excited for you all to hear this one...
ERASURE: THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO BUY THE PRE-ORDER EXCLUSIVE 'THE NEON' T-SHIRT
If you needed confirmation that the release of 'The Neon' is just around the corner, it's now the moment to call time on the pre-order only 'The Neon' t-shirt which is available as part of the album pre-order bundle, and as an individual item, exclusively from Lexer Music and Mute Bank. To give Mute enough time to print the shirts to order, the cut-off date for new orders is NEXT WEDNESDAY, June 29th, so if you want a t-shirt then the clock is most certainly ticking! We posted an image of a finished t-shirt on the Erasure socials this week and the reflective orange foil finish looks brilliant!
ERASURE: GET THE PRE-ORDER ONLY LIMITED-EDITION FORMATS OF 'THE NEON'
In a continuation of the story above, it is my solemn duty as an Erasure employee to remind you that the limited-edition pre-order exclusive formats - that's the Limited-Edition Deluxe CD, the Limited-Edition Neon Orange Vinyl Album, Limited-Edition Green Cassette, and the Limited-Edition T-Shirt (for a few more days anyway...) - of Erasure's forthcoming album 'The Neon' are all available to pre-order right now from Mute Bank and Lexer Music. 'The Neon' will be released on August 21st and, in addition to our limited-edition formats, there will also be standard editions of the album available from the most marvellous of online and offline music retailers.
VINCE CLARKE: TUNE IN NEXT WEEK FOR THE LATEST EDITION OF VINCE CLARKE & REED HAYS' 'THE SYNTHESIZER SHOW'
Vince Clarke and Reed Hays are no doubt planning all manner of high-jinks for their next live broadcast of 'The Synthesizer Show' which will take place next Thursday, July 30th, at 2pm (NYC) and will appear on the Maker Park Radio streaming service shortly after that.
SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND: 'WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE A LITTLE RESPECT?' - A PET SHOP BOYS & ERASURE DJ MIX
OK, so Miguel Gómez, who made this live DJ set, didn't actually call his live DJ mix 'What Have I Done To Deserve A Little Respect?', I made that up myself, but I hope you like this video. There's something very hypnotic about watching a DJ mixing vinyl and I really enjoyed watching this mix of Pet Shop Boys' 'What have I Done To Deserve This?' and Erasure's 'A Little Respect'. I hope you do too...
Stay Safe. Be Kind.
